Harley-Davidson® Road Glide v. Harley-Davidson® Street Glide

Many people looking to move to a Touring bike will often ask us which bike is better. The Harley® Street Glide or the Harley® Road Glide. A couple years ago, it was easy since Harley-Davidson® stopped making the Road Glide. With the Rushmore project, both the Road Glide and Street Glide have essentially the same capabilities. Both have split-stream systems to reduce buffeting. Both bikes have awesome cornering ability.

Aside from the aesthics of the fairings, there is some additional or space the rider feels on the Road Glide since the controls are about 6 inchs further away. That doesn't mean that the Road Glide is a better motorcycle for larger riders. We have seen larger riders enjoy the Street Glide just as much as the Road Glide.

As for the rest of the motorcycle, there are not a lot of differences. Essentially from the tank back towards the rear fender, both bikes are the same.

We do hear from riders on occassion that they feel the Road Glide "cuts through the wind better." However, both bikes perform well riding down the interstate and blast down the road effortlessly. We would recommend you taking both the Road Glide and Street Glide for a cruise to test them out and see for yourself. There is no better way to analyze this piece. Everyone seems to have an opinion on this part and usually they are focused on whatever Harley-Davidson® they ride themselves.
