Wednesday August 29th was Wilkins last Rolling Bike Night of the season. The destination was Burke Publick House. Burke Publick House is a gastropub that can be found behind the Northeast Kingdom Country Store. It is a great place for food, drink and relaxation! If you like steak the steak and cheese sandwich and maple bourbon steak tips are really good.
Our technician Dan took the ride a bit further and checked out a fire tower on top of Burke Mountain. As well as Lake Willoughby and a small waterfall.
Lake Willoughby offers boating, hunting, fishing, hiking and swimming in the Willoughby State Forest. The lake is 1,653 acres and the deepest lake in the state with depths in excess of 300 feet.
The fire tower stands at an elevation of 3,220ft with a great view!
It is a great drive that deserves a try.
