What gives you a feeling of attitude?  Words such as emotion, rebellion, and Breakout come to mind.  See what we did there?  Breakout. The feeling of breaking out from society and just riding is something that we all strive for.  In 2025, the Breakout is back with a healthy amount of new updates all while still being the attitude-filled bike that we have come to know and love.  The 2025 Breakout still features the long-and-lean chopper styling with front-to-back chrome; the 21” 26-spoke cast-aluminum front wheel and matching rear rim sitting beefy with its 240mm tire. The chrome, the wheels, are what we’ve grown accustomed to… so what’s new?

Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom

New for 2025, the Harley-Davidson Breakout comes with the 117ci motor - but wait, the Breakout had the 117ci last year, you’re thinking - which has been upgraded to the 117ci Custom motor providing 6% more horsepower and 5% more torque than last year’s motor! That’s a total of 126ft-tq and 104hp ready to give its rider a hell of a ride.  The rider is going to feel this power instantly from a stopped position while accelerating, when passing another vehicle (very satisfyingly, mind you), and smooth and usable power while cruising at highway speeds.

Fresh Air

Along with the upgraded motor, you’re going to notice that the 2025 Halrey-Davidson Breakout has an upgraded air intake, not just the cover itself.  On the inside, the aluminum intake manifold has been contoured to offer a more direct air path creating a smooth transition throttle body to the oval intake ports - what does this mean to you?  This means more power… and we love more power. 

Keep Cool

Now let’s talk cooling systems.  In 2018, Harley-Davidson introduced the oil cooling system with the introduction of the new Softail lineup.  For 2025, Harley-Davidson has introduced the Oil-cooled center system or “center cooling system” for easy terms.  The oil cooling system starts in the front radiator and heads straight for the front cylinder, moves through the center of the head, around the exhaust valves, and then moves to the rear cylinder for the same process, and back to the front radiator.  What this means for the rider is that this cooling system is designed to further optimize the performance, economy, and durability of the M8 motor within the Harley Breakout. 

Choose Your Ride

But before we let you go, let’s talk about the ride modes.  New for 2025, the Softail Breakout has three ride modes: Rain, Road, and Sport.  Remember that on a Harley-Davidson, the ride modes make a difference.  Each ride mode is going to change the personality of the bike.  Riding in less-than-ideal conditions?  Click into rain mode for a calm, cool, confidence-building ride.  Just out for a cruise?  Switch to road mode for an everyday cruising feel.  Ready to show your friends what the bike can really do?  It’s go time… Sport mode it is.  Sport mode on the 117ci Custom motor provides a broad torque curve, strong mid-range, and added torque for a fun burst of energy.  In Sport mode, the rider will experience the highest level of engine braking, the lowest level of transaction control intervention, and a very fun throttle response!
